Philippsring in Kastel to undergo major roadworks starting March 9
Major roadworks will begin on Philippsring in Kastel next week. The repairs aim to fix deep potholes, cracked surfaces, and uneven sections caused by years of freeze-thaw damage. Two lanes heading toward Kasteler Bahnhof will close for five days starting Monday, March 9.
The construction zone will stretch between house numbers 13 and 5. Crews will focus on the heavily damaged roadway, which has deteriorated over time. Traffic toward Hochheimer Straße will continue as usual, but drivers heading toward Kasteler Bahnhof must follow a diversion.
The existing bike lane will end before the site and merge with the rerouted traffic. Vehicles will share a single lane, guided through adjacent long-term parking areas. These parking spaces will also close temporarily to accommodate the detour.
The lane closures in this direction have been an ongoing issue since similar works began in March 2024. This latest phase is expected to last until Friday, March 13, 2026.
Drivers should expect delays and plan alternative routes where possible. The repairs will address long-standing surface problems caused by weather damage. Once complete, the road should be safer and smoother for all users.
