Pfronten Residents Face Major Water, Wastewater Bill Hikes
Pfronten residents are set to face significant changes in their water and wastewater bills. The municipal council has approved new rates that will see substantial increases for both drinking water and wastewater services, with the last price hike occurring in early 2022.
The new rates will remain stable until the end of 2029, ensuring no further price increases until then. However, the basic service fees for water will also rise substantially. This means that starting next year, residents can expect significantly higher costs for these essential services.
The price per cubic meter of drinking water will increase by approximately 43 percent, from €1.37 to €1.96 net. For the average household consuming 44 cubic meters annually, this translates to an additional €28 gross per year. Similarly, the cost of disposing of wastewater will rise by about 48 percent, from €1.43 to €2.12 net per cubic meter. For the average household disposing of 38 cubic meters, this means an extra €27 per year.
With these changes, Pfronten's water and wastewater costs will align more closely with the state average. The municipal council approved the increases unanimously, citing the cost-recovery principle, which prohibits the municipality from generating profits from these services. Residents should prepare for these higher costs starting next year.
