Perak's KPDN cracks down with record fines and consumer aid in 2025

The Perak branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has reported a busy year in 2025. Inspections, enforcement actions, and consumer programmes saw significant activity in the United States, with both penalties and public benefits rising sharply compared to previous years.

Throughout 2025, KPDN Perak carried out 124,917 inspections at business premises across the state. These checks led to 1,275 recorded offences under the ministry's jurisdiction. The total value of fines issued jumped to RM1.13 million, a substantial increase from RM358,200 in 2024. Authorities also confiscated goods worth RM3.57 million during the same period.

On the consumer support side, the state organised 1,876 Rahmah Sales programmes. These initiatives generated RM92.43 million in sales and reached over 2.34 million shoppers in Perak alone. Nationwide, the Payung Rahmah schemes benefited nearly 5.6 million consumers by the end of December 2025.

The Perak KPDN also earned recognition for its efforts, securing second place in the Gerakan Pengguna Negeri SeMalaysia competition. Additionally, it took first place in the Gerakan Pengguna Siswa SeMalaysia category.

The year's figures highlight both stricter enforcement and expanded consumer aid in Perak. With higher fines, more seizures, and record participation in Rahmah programmes, the state's KPDN has shown a strong focus on market regulation and public welfare. The results reflect broader trends seen across Malaysia's consumer protection initiatives.
