Pearl Nkrumah Appointed as First Female MD of Access Bank Ghana

Access Bank Ghana has appointed Pearl Nkrumah as its new Managing Director, effective October 1, 2025. With over 25 years of banking experience, she becomes the first woman to lead the bank since its inception in Ghana 16 years ago.

Nkrumah brings a wealth of expertise, having held roles in retail and digital banking, commercial banking, risk management, and digital transformation. She will take over from Olumide Olatunji, who has led the bank since 2018 and will now assume a senior executive role in Nigeria. Nkrumah's challenge will be to maintain the bank's digital momentum and expand financial inclusion in Ghana's competitive market, building on the achievements of her predecessor.

Under Olatunji's leadership, the bank grew investor confidence through strategic partnerships with International Finance Corporation (IFC), MasterCard, and Norfund. Nkrumah, until her appointment, served as Executive Director for Retail and Digital Banking at Access Bank Ghana, overseeing retail operations across 15 Access Africa subsidiaries outside Nigeria. Her appointment reflects the bank's commitment to diversity and succession planning.

Pearl Nkrumah's appointment has been cleared by the Board of Directors and the Bank of Ghana. With 56 branches across the country, Access Bank Ghana is part of Access Bank Holdings, one of Africa's largest banking groups operating in 23 countries. Nkrumah's appointment signals a new era for the bank, as it continues to drive digital innovation and expand financial inclusion in Ghana.
