Parking dispute in Offenbach turns violent during towing operation

A dispute over an illegally parked car turned violent in Offenbach on Sunday afternoon. Two men clashed during a towing operation on Sudetenstraße, leaving one injured. Police are now searching for witnesses to the incident.

The trouble began when a 34-year-old tow truck driver tried to remove a vehicle parked in a fire lane. The car's owner, a 57-year-old man, stepped in to stop the towing. An argument quickly escalated into a physical fight.

The older man struck the tow truck driver first. In response, the 34-year-old used pepper spray against him. The confrontation ended with the 57-year-old needing medical attention at the scene.

Both men were later reported to police on suspicion of assault. Officers are now asking anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

Over the past five years, Offenbach has tightened parking rules around Sudetenstraße. Blue parking zones and resident permits were introduced in 2022 to cut down on illegal parking. Fines of up to €100, increased towing, and camera surveillance—expanded in 2024—have reduced violations by 30%.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact police on +49 69 8098-5100. The clash highlights ongoing tensions over parking enforcement in the area.
