Paramedic and officer injured after patient turns violent in Wiesbaden
A routine medical call in Wiesbaden's Westend district escalated into a violent confrontation early Thursday morning. Two emergency responders suffered minor injuries after a 30-year-old local man turned aggressive during treatment and later resisted arrest.
The incident began when the man phoned for an ambulance, reporting an injury. Paramedics arrived at the scene, but as they treated him, he became increasingly hostile. He verbally abused the crew before lightly injuring a female paramedic and fleeing on foot.
While running away, he damaged several parked cars in the area. Police quickly located and attempted to detain him, but he struggled against officers. One officer sustained minor injuries during the scuffle before the suspect was finally subdued.
Both the paramedic and the officer received medical attention and later returned to work. Authorities took the 30-year-old into custody, and a criminal investigation is now underway.
The man remains in police custody as investigators examine the circumstances of the attack. Records show no similar incidents involving aggressive patients against emergency workers in Wiesbaden over the past year. The case will proceed through the legal system in the coming weeks.
