Omsk authorities seize six cars in crackdown on unpaid debts

A joint operation by bailiffs and traffic police in Omsk led to the seizure of six vehicles on August 30. The raid targeted drivers with outstanding debts, resulting in immediate confiscations. Two cases involved a man and a woman whose cars were impounded over unpaid sums.

During the roadside checks, a 43-year-old man lost his Hyundai Elantra after officials confirmed three unpaid debts totalling 183,000 rubles. He acknowledged the debts but stated he could not settle them. His car will now be sold if the amount remains unpaid within the given deadline.

In another case, a 22-year-old woman had her Nissan Qashqai seized over a 166,000 ruble debt. She claimed no prior knowledge of the obligation. Like the man, she faces the loss of her vehicle unless the debt is cleared in 10 days.

Authorities did not release further details about the remaining four seized vehicles or the total number of drivers checked during the operation.

The operation highlights ongoing efforts to recover debts through vehicle confiscation. Both drivers now have a short window to pay or risk losing their cars permanently. No additional information about the raid's broader scope has been provided.
