Offenbach's economic dialogue unites leaders to shape the city's future
More than 50 business, union, and trade leaders met in Offenbach on December 15, 2025, for an SPD-led economic discussion. The event aimed to bridge the gap between local small business ideas and policymakers through direct conversation. Topics ranged from digitalisation to securing skilled labour, reflecting the city's ongoing economic transformation.
The dialogue was led by Dr. Matthias Miersch, the SPD faction leader, who focused on Offenbach's economic challenges and opportunities. Helena Wolf, another SPD leader, stressed the importance of engaging with businesses and workers to meet the party's economic goals. She later summarised the faction's pledge to protect jobs, drive innovation, and keep the city competitive.
Offenbach's Lord Mayor, Dr. Felix Schwenke, highlighted the city's record employment levelsâthe highest in 49 years. He credited strategic decisions, simplified procedures, and strong administrative support for this growth. Daniel Imhäuser, Managing Director of Blasius Schuster GmbH & Co. KG, called the port area an 'island of growth', symbolising Offenbach's shift from old industrial sites to modern innovation hubs. The debate covered key issues like digitalising public services, improving business conditions, and attracting skilled workers. Hesse's Economic Affairs Minister, Kaweh Mansoori, addressed the current economic climate and promoted the HessenFonds initiative as a solution. Participants also discussed the 'Testraumallee' concept, designed to support startups and new business models.
The event reinforced Offenbach's reputation as a growing economic centre. Discussions on digitalisation, job security, and eventbrite support outlined concrete steps for future development. Policymakers and business leaders left with clearer priorities for collaboration in the coming year.
