This picture is clicked outside the city. At the bottom, we see the road. On either side of the road, we see the poles and the buildings. On the left side, we see the people are standing. Beside them, we see a trolley cart. On the right side, we see a man and the women are standing on the footpath. Behind them, we see a purple color garbage bin. We see the flower pots. There are buildings, trees and the flower pots in the background.

Offenbach Honors Volunteers Who Strengthen Its Community Spirit

Offenbach has celebrated its dedicated volunteers on International Volunteer Day. The city recognised their efforts at an event filled with music, humour, and shared stories. Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke highlighted how their work strengthens the local community and holds it together.

The Offenbach Volunteer Center, set up in 2002, has played a key role in local life. It runs projects like AusZeit, senior cafés, a listening service, and integration guides. Volunteers also stepped in quickly during crises, including refugee arrivals, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine.

For nearly 19 years, Renate Müller led the center, guiding its growth and impact. She will leave her post in June 2025, passing the role to Monika Pröse. The event also marked Sigrid Jacob’s retirement, who contributed to the center’s leadership before Müller.

Guests enjoyed live music, light-hearted performances, and a buffet while exchanging their volunteer experiences. The evening underscored the center’s long-standing commitment to social cohesion in Offenbach.

The Volunteer Center will continue its work under new leadership when Monika Pröse takes charge. Renate Müller’s departure in mid-2025 and Sigrid Jacob’s retirement close a long chapter of service. The city’s recognition of volunteers reaffirms their essential role in Offenbach’s community life.
