Offenbach Honors Stadtgarde with 2025 Cultural Prize for Decades of Volunteer Spirit

Stadtgarde Offenbach will receive the city's 2025 Cultural Prize in recognition of its long-standing volunteer work. The association, founded in 1982, blends guard and show dance with Guggenmusik while promoting an inclusive cultural scene. The €2,500 award will be presented on January 15, 2026, at a formal ceremony. The group was established over 40 years ago and now counts 131 members, with 87 actively taking part in performances. Its youngest participant is four years old, while the oldest is 82. Open to children, teens, and adults, the association offers a men's ballet, Guggenmusik shows, and an events team that performs across Offenbach.

Throughout the year, Stadtgarde Offenbach organises a New Year's reception, Carnival-season celebrations, and the Schneckenberg Christmas Market. Lord Mayor Dr. Felix Schwenke highlighted the group's role in bringing people together, regardless of background or income. The city praised its efforts in creating a lively and welcoming cultural community. Despite its long history, no public data exists on how the association's membership has changed in terms of age, gender, or cultural background since 1982. The prize money will support its ongoing activities and volunteer-led initiatives.

The €2,500 Cultural Prize will be handed over in early 2026, acknowledging the association's decades of dedication. Stadtgarde Offenbach continues to engage residents through performances, events, and community outreach. Its work remains a key part of Offenbach's cultural landscape.
