Offenbach Cracks Down on Littering: Fines Issued, Dogs and Drugs Seized
Offenbach's regulatory office has announced a continued crackdown on littering in the urban center. The move aims to maintain a clean and comfortable environment for both residents and visitors. Recent checks have led to several fines and warnings.
In mid-June, the waste investigation unit and municipal police conducted spot checks in the city center. Six individuals were caught littering, mostly discarding cigarette butts. Among them were two elderly women, one of whom expressed remorse and promised to dispose of cigarettes properly in the future. Two unleashed dogs were also spotted in the pedestrian zone, violating Offenbach's street regulations. Their owners received a 55-euro warning fine.
A man was fined for smoking cannabis in a pedestrian zone between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. The identity of the offender and the exact penalty remain unknown. During the same checks, one person was found to be residing illegally in Germany and was taken into police custody.
Offenbach's regulatory office, led by Frank Weber, has emphasized the importance of these checks in maintaining a clean and safe environment. The city encourages all residents and visitors to follow the rules and dispose of waste properly. Further checks are planned to ensure compliance with local regulations.
