Three police officers injured in pursuit in Offenbach - Offenbach Chase Ends in Injury and Damage: Driver Evades Traffic Stop
Offenbach police are seeking witnesses after a chaotic incident that left three officers injured and caused significant property damage. A 20-year-old driver attempted to evade a traffic stop, leading to a chase and a collision.
The incident began when the driver, who has not been publicly identified, ignored a police signal to stop in the Limburg-Weilburg district. Instead, he sped off, causing a collision with parked cars and a traffic light pole. The driver then fled on foot but was apprehended nearby. It was discovered that he was under the influence of drugs, driving without a valid license, and operating an unregistered vehicle with false license plates.
The chase resulted in an accident that caused several thousand euros in material damage. Three police officers, aged 24, 32, and 37, were injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The 20-year-old is suspected of reckless driving and hit-and-run, and a blood sample was taken for analysis.
The Offenbach police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. The 20-year-old driver remains in custody, pending further investigation. The injured officers are expected to make a full recovery.
