Obertshausen's Volunteer Fire Brigade: A Year of Growth and Success

Obertshausen's Volunteer Fire Brigade: A Year of Growth and Success

Obertshausen's Volunteer Fire Brigade, led by new chief fire inspector Marco Bauer and mayor Manuel Friedrich, had a busy and successful year in 2024. Notable appointments and achievements marked the year, with a significant increase in deployments and training courses.

The brigade welcomed four new members to the operational department, including Justin Becker, Andrii Kobets, and Tim Volk. Lea Wenzel was appointed as the new chief firefighter. Throughout the year, the operational forces completed 68 training courses, covering a wide range of topics from basic to specialized training.

The youth fire department had 40 members and the children's fire department had 27, demonstrating the brigade's commitment to engaging the community's young people. The voluntary fire department responded to 319 deployments in total, including 64 fires, 197 assistance operations, and 58 false alarms. Notable incidents in 2024 included a severe motorcycle accident, a major incident on the A3, and a simultaneous apartment fire.

The fire department put four new vehicles into service, including a staff ladder truck and a modern turntable ladder, along with two crew transport vehicles. By the end of the year, the fire department had 97 members, including 17 women, and was actively serving the surrounding area.

Thorsten Manus was honoured with the rank of chief fire master, recognising his dedicated service. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr of Obertshausen, under the leadership of chief fire inspector Marco Bauer and mayor Manuel Friedrich, looks forward to continuing its vital work in the community, equipped with new vehicles and a well-trained team.
