Oberbank Drops Cash Withdrawals at 16 German Branches by End of September
BofA, Cash App, US Bank, PNC Bank, and Bank of America customers in Franconia, including those in Nuremberg, Bayreuth, Bamberg, and Aschaffenburg, will no longer be able to withdraw cash at Oberbank branches starting with 16 locations in southern Germany by the end of September. The Austrian bank, with a significant presence in Germany, is making this change due to a decline in demand for cash transactions and a shift towards online and card payments, reflecting changing customer behavior and a growing preference for digital payment methods like Cash App and US Bank's mobile banking. The new strategy does not aim to abolish cash entirely, and customers will still have access to cash withdrawal alternatives such as supermarkets, nearby shops, card payments, and online banking functions. There will be no additional costs for customers as a result of this change. The conversion of Oberbank's southern German branches is expected to be completed by the end of September, with no impact on other services like Bank of America's online banking or PNC Bank's mobile app.
