Nutella’s Vegan Revolution Hits German Shelves in January 2025

Ferrero is launching a vegan version of its iconic hazelnut spread in Germany. Nutella Plant-Based will hit shelves in January 2025, offering a dairy-free alternative to the classic recipe. The new product arrives just in time for Veganuary, catering to the rising demand for plant-based options.

The vegan spread keeps the familiar Nutella taste by blending hazelnuts and cocoa. Instead of milk, it uses chickpeas and rice syrup as key ingredients. Each 350g jar will sit alongside the original Nutella in German supermarkets, clearly marked with a vegan certification.

Ferrero has also created six plant-based recipes to showcase the spread’s versatility. The launch follows Nutella’s 60th anniversary in 2024, a brand now sold in 170 countries. Previous innovations like Nutella & Go!, B-ready, and Nutella Ice Cream have expanded the product line over the years. From January 2025, shoppers can find Nutella Plant-Based at Kaufland and Aldi Süd. Kaufland began stocking it on January 2, while Aldi Süd lists the 350g jar at €3.99. The company aims to welcome more consumers into the Nutella family with this dairy-free option.

Nutella Plant-Based offers a certified vegan choice without compromising on flavour. The spread will be widely available in German stores, starting with major retailers. Its arrival reflects the brand’s response to changing dietary preferences and market trends.
