Since 2018, NJ TRANSIT has authorized the purchase of over 1,400 buses, representing an investment of over 1.7 billion USD. This commitment is part of the agency's goal to replace or upgrade all ageing buses and rail cars by 2031. Governor Murphy's investment in public transportation is making this ambitious plan possible. The first of the 175 new buses has arrived, marking a significant step towards NJ TRANSIT's goal of a modern, reliable transit system by 2031. With enhanced safety features and passenger amenities, these buses are set to improve the overall travel experience for NJ TRANSIT customers.
