Nizhny Novgorod cracks down on bus carriers over widespread route violations

Transport officials in Nizhny Novgorod have uncovered widespread violations on four city bus routes. Inspections of routes No. 34, 47, 85, and 87 revealed multiple breaches by three carriers—Konka, Trans-NN, and Meshcheryakov & Company. The companies now face formal complaints and potential penalties for failing to meet contract terms.

On Route 34, inspectors found buses with dirty exteriors and incorrect route displays. Some vehicles used homemade windshield signs instead of official ones. Required equipment, including surveillance cameras and rear-door validators, was also missing.

Route 47 had similar issues, with buses lacking rear validators, driver identification, and onboard cameras. Problems extended to torn seat upholstery, malfunctioning electronic displays, and improper route markings.

Route 85 showed poor maintenance standards, with dirty exteriors and general upkeep failures. Meanwhile, every bus on Route 87 failed compliance checks, missing reflective route indicators and driver ID signs.

All three carriers—Konka, Trans-NN, and Meshcheryakov & Company—were found responsible for these violations. Authorities have initiated formal complaints, though specific fines or legal outcomes remain undetermined.

The inspections highlight persistent compliance failures across key bus routes in Nizhny Novgorod. Officials have documented the breaches and begun administrative proceedings against the carriers. Further details on penalties will depend on ongoing reviews and legal processes.
