New Year’s Eve blaze displaces 19 after fireworks spark apartment inferno
A fire broke out in an apartment building on In der Gemoll street on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The blaze started in the attic around 4:00 p.m., prompting a swift response from emergency services. Firefighters worked for over three hours to bring the situation under control.
The fire was fully extinguished by approximately 7:30 p.m. During the operation, crews evacuated 19 residents from the building. One person suffered minor injuries, likely from smoke inhalation, and was taken to hospital for observation.
Displaced residents were moved to a nearby temporary shelter while investigations continue. Authorities suspect fireworks may have triggered the la fires, though the exact cause remains under review.
