New Prices and Comprehensive Traffic Management System for Gießen Buses
Public transport fares in the Rhein-Main region will rise from January 1, 2026, following a 4.75% average increase approved by RMV. The changes affect single tickets, day passes, and long-term subscriptions across Gießen and beyond. Some monthly passes have also been scrapped due to lower demand.
Single bus fares in Gießen will go up slightly, with adult tickets increasing from €2.90 to €3.00. Child fares will rise to €1.80. Day tickets will also cost more, with adults paying €5.90 (or €4.45 with a SparPass) and children €3.50.
Monthly and annual passes are seeing bigger jumps. The standard monthly pass will now cost €59.90, while the annual subscription rises to €48.20 per month. The *SchülerTicket Hessen* and *SeniorenTicket Hessen* will follow the same trend. The *Deutschland-Ticket* will vary in price, ranging between €29.00 and €63.00 depending on available discounts. Meanwhile, RMV has discontinued the 9 a.m. monthly pass, 9 a.m. annual pass, and 65+ monthly pass, citing declining usage. For those needing help with the changes, the RMV Mobility Center in Gießen remains open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering guidance on new fares and travel options.
The fare adjustments take effect on January 1, 2026, with most tickets becoming more expensive. Passengers can visit the RMV Mobility Center in Gießen for support or to explore alternative travel options. The changes reflect both rising costs and shifts in ticket demand.
