New Prices and Comprehensive Traffic Management System for Gießen Buses

Public transport fares in the RMV network will rise from January 1, 2026. The average increase sits at 4.75 percent, affecting tickets across the region. Changes include higher prices for single trips, monthly passes, and discounted tickets like the Deutschland-Ticket and SchülerTicket Hessen.

In Gießen, a single adult bus fare will go up from €2.90 to €3.00. Child tickets will now cost €1.80. Day tickets for adults will rise to €5.90 (or €4.45 with a SparPass), while children’s day tickets will be €3.50.

Monthly passes will also become more expensive. The standard monthly ticket jumps to €59.90, making the annual pass—paid in 12 instalments—€48.20 per month, or €578.40 in total. The *Deutschland-Ticket* will range from €29.00 to €63.00, depending on discounts. Some season passes have been scrapped due to low demand. These include the 9 a.m. monthly pass and the 65+ monthly pass. Meanwhile, the RMV Mobility Center in Gießen remains open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., to help passengers explore travel options.

The fare adjustments take effect on January 1, 2026, with increases across most ticket types. Passengers can get support at the RMV Mobility Center in Gießen during working hours. The changes reflect a broader trend of rising transport costs in the region.
