New Digital Tools Help Voters Compare Party Positions Before 2026 Local Elections
A new digital tool called voto – My Vote Check has launched to help voters in Offenbach prepare for the 2026 local elections. The platform lets users compare their views on key issues with the positions of political parties. Developed with input from young people, it aims to give a real-world perspective on local concerns.
Separately, Augsburg has introduced its own voting aid, the Aux-O-Mat, tailored specifically to the city's priorities.
The voto platform is an independent digital service focused on municipal politics. It covers local topics like youth engagement, transport, the environment, and housing. Users answer statements and see how their responses align with party positions. The project was created with support from youth groups, including the Bezirksjugendring Mittelfranken and the Demokratie leben! initiative.
Meanwhile, Augsburg's Aux-O-Mat offers a similar function but is customised for the city's election. Developed by Stadtjugendring Augsburg and the VOTO platform, it features 30 statements and includes 14 parties. The tool helps voters quickly compare their views on issues like education, infrastructure, and security without giving direct recommendations.
The VOTO platform itself powers voting aids in multiple cities for the 2026 elections. These include Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Köln, Frankfurt am Main, Hanau, Landshut, Passau, and Wilhermsdorf. Each version is adapted to local priorities, matching user responses to party stances.
Both tools provide voters with clear comparisons between personal views and party positions. The voto platform and Aux-O-Mat are designed to make local elections more accessible. They join a growing list of digital aids supported by the VOTO network across Germany.
