German-Polish project aims to mediate jobs in tourism - New bilingual platform bridges tourism labour gaps across German-Polish borders

A new bilingual online platform called Next Stop Tourism has launched to tackle labour shortages in the tourism industry. The initiative connects young jobseekers with vacancies and internships across the German-Polish border regions. Businesses in the sector, particularly hotels and restaurants, have struggled to fill key roles like chefs and service staff for some time.

The project is a partnership between Spree-Neiße district in eastern Brandenburg and Krosno Odrzańskie County in Poland. The area is well-known for its scenic waterways and popular tourist spots, making tourism a vital part of the local economy. The platform will help regional businesses advertise job openings and internships more effectively.

Many businesses in the region have reported difficulties finding skilled workers. Restaurants and hotels face the biggest gaps, especially for positions such as cooks and hospitality staff. Next Stop Tourism aims to address this by making opportunities more visible to young people on both sides of the border. The platform’s bilingual design ensures that job listings and training offers are accessible in both German and Polish. This approach helps bridge the gap between employers and potential employees in the cross-border area.

The launch of Next Stop Tourism provides a direct way for young people to explore careers in the tourism sector. Local businesses will now have a dedicated space to promote vacancies and attract much-needed talent. The initiative could ease staffing pressures while supporting the region's growing tourism industry.
