New Austrian Municipal Law edition updates procurement and budgeting rules

The latest edition of Austrian Municipal Law has been released, offering updated guidance on local administration. Published on 1 July 2020, this standard reference work now includes key revisions to procurement, budgeting, and intermunicipal cooperation.

The loose-leaf collection, edited by Katharina Pabel—university professor and deputy director at WU Vienna—remains a central resource for municipal officials. This edition introduces changes to procurement law, ensuring compliance with new regulations. It also addresses the structure and functions of municipal offices, reflecting recent administrative adjustments.

Budget law has been revised to align with current financial practices. Another major update focuses on intermunicipal cooperation, particularly through municipal associations and formal agreements. For easier access, the collection is available both in print and as an online resource.

The updated Austrian Municipal Law provides municipalities with revised legal frameworks for procurement, budgeting, and cooperation. The latest edition ensures local authorities have clear, up-to-date guidance for their administrative and financial operations.
