Nashik industries face power shortages as infrastructure upgrades stall

Industrial leaders in Nashik have raised concerns over power supply shortages in key manufacturing zones. A recent meeting between the Nashik Industries and Manufacturers' Association (NIMA) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) officials addressed delays in infrastructure upgrades and new power connections.

The meeting took place at NIMA's office, where Ashish Nahar, the association's president, highlighted ongoing difficulties. Businesses in Sinnar Industrial Area are struggling to obtain new power connections and secure approvals for increased load. Nahar stressed the urgency of completing a sanctioned substation and installing higher-capacity transformers to meet demand.

MSEDCL officials responded by outlining plans to deploy 5 MVA and 10 MVA transformers across the region. These upgrades aim to ease the current strain on existing infrastructure. However, all three substations in Malegaon Industrial Area are already running at full capacity, blocking further load approvals or new hook-ups.

Deepak Patil, representing MSEDCL, assured attendees that the process of transferring land for the new substation would be accelerated. The move follows repeated calls from NIMA to fast-track construction and address long-standing bottlenecks in power distribution.

The proposed transformer upgrades and substation expansion are expected to relieve pressure on Nashik's industrial news supply. Until then, businesses in Sinnar and Malegaon will continue facing delays for new connections and load increases. MSEDCL has yet to provide a definitive timeline for the project's completion.
