Namibia Bolsters Cybersecurity: CRAN & NAMPOL Strengthen Cooperation
The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) and the Namibia Police Force (NAMPOL) recently held a strategic zoom meeting at NAMPOL Headquarters to bolster cybersecurity cooperation. Led by CRAN's Acting Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Emilia Nghikembua, who also heads the Namibia Cybersecurity Incident Response Team (Nam-CSIRT), the zoom meeting emphasized the importance of unified efforts among national institutions to strengthen cybersecurity defenses and improve incident response coordination.
The discussions, attended by Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, Inspector General of the Namibia Police, and his executive team, focused on several key areas. Nam-CSIRT's mandate was reviewed, assessing Namibia's current cybersecurity readiness, and exploring avenues for collaboration to bolster digital resilience. The zoom meeting aimed to foster a robust partnership between CRAN and NAMPOL, leveraging each institution's strengths to enhance cybersecurity capabilities nationwide.
Mrs. Nghikembua, in her capacity as the Acting Executive Director of CRAN, underscored the need for a collective approach to cybersecurity. She highlighted the importance of Nam-CSIRT's role in incident response and the necessity for all stakeholders to work together to protect Namibia's digital infrastructure.
