Historic Station in the Harz to be Sold to New Owner - Mystery buyer to unveil plans for historic Alexisbad Station next month
An abandoned railway station in the Harz district is getting a new lease of life. Alexisbad Station, built in 1888, was sold by the Harz Narrow Gauge Railways (HSB) at the end of 2022. The identity of the new owner—and their plans for the historic building—will be announced next month.
The station’s future has remained unclear since its sale over a year ago. While details have stayed under wraps, local interest in its heritage remains strong. A 55-centimetre model kit of Alexisbad Station is available through the HSB’s online shop, though only six have been sold so far.
A public announcement is scheduled for Wednesday, March 15, at 11:00 AM. At this event, the new owner will reveal their vision for the site. The station, once a key stop on the narrow-gauge network, has stood empty since its closure.
The revival of Alexisbad Station could bring fresh news to the area. The upcoming announcement will clarify how the 136-year-old building will be used. Residents and railway enthusiasts alike are waiting to learn what comes next for this piece of Harz history.
