Mysterious Theft of Hand-Carved Dwarves Panels Leaves German Town Puzzled

Police in the Gießen region are appealing for witnesses after three separate incidents occurred within a week. A hit-and-run collision, an attempted burglary, and the theft of hand-carved wooden panels have all left authorities searching for information.

The first incident took place in Rodheim between December 3 and December 8. Four wooden panels depicting the seven dwarves disappeared from their usual display on Mühlbergstraße. The hand-carved reliefs, valued at €500, were crafted by the Biebertal Senior Workshop and installed annually as part of a local tradition. Sculptor Adrian Wölki created the original designs, and police suspect the theft happened during the night of December 3.

The stolen dwarves’ panels remain missing, while the burglar and the hit-and-run driver have yet to be identified. Police have asked witnesses to contact them with any details that could assist the investigations. The public’s help may prove vital in resolving these cases.
