Mysterious attacker damages car from Marburg bridge in late-night assault
A motorist’s silver VW Polo was damaged after an unknown attacker threw an object from a pedestrian bridge in Marburg-Cappel. The incident took place late on Thursday, January 15, at around 8:30 p.m. on Beltershäuser Straße. Authorities are now investigating the case as dangerous interference with road traffic.
In a separate attack, a man assaulted two women with a long object on Biegenstraße, leaving them with minor injuries.
The car was struck while driving from Cappeler Straße toward Sonnenblickallee. Police believe the object was thrown by a person standing on the pedestrian bridge near number 31. The impact caused an estimated €500 worth of damage to the vehicle’s roof.
Witnesses described the suspect as roughly 170 cm tall, aged between 50 and 55, with a gaunt face. He was reportedly wearing a dark winter jacket and carrying a large shopping bag. Marburg police have appealed for anyone who saw suspicious activity on the bridge or witnessed the incident to come forward. Earlier that same day, at around 12:30 a.m., a different attacker targeted two women, aged 24 and 27, on Biegenstraße. Using a long object, he inflicted minor injuries before fleeing the scene. Investigators are treating both cases as separate but have not ruled out potential links.
The police investigation into the bridge attack continues, with officers reviewing possible leads. Anyone with information about either incident is urged to contact Marburg authorities. The total damage and injuries remain under assessment as inquiries progress.
