Mühlheim youth explore democracy and civic engagement in Berlin trip

Ten young people from Mühlheim and two from Rodgau recently took part in an educational trip to Berlin. Organised by the Mühlheim Youth Forum, the four-day visit focused on democracy, diversity, and civic engagement. The journey was made possible through funding from federal and state democracy initiatives.

The trip ran from October 15 to 18, 2023, with support from the Partnership for Democracy in Offenbach District. Backing came from the federal Living Democracy! programme and Hesse’s Active for Democracy, Against Extremism scheme. The German Youth Institute oversaw the project on behalf of the federal government.

After returning home, the participants will share their experiences with local committees. The trip is set to influence the future work of both the Mühlheim Youth Forum and the District Youth Forum. Organisers expect the insights gained to strengthen ongoing youth engagement in the region.
