Motorist arrested after reckless driving and suspected drug use on German highway
A 45-year-old motorist from North Rhine-Westphalia was stopped by police on the A67 motorway near Lorsch. Officers intervened after witnessing a series of dangerous driving behaviours that put other road users at risk. The driver had been overtaking vehicles on the right, flashing high beams repeatedly, and tailgating other cars. He also swerved erratically between lanes, prompting police to pull him over immediately. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers noticed signs suggesting recent drug use. They suspected the man had consumed both cocaine and cannabis. As a result, he was taken into custody and required to undergo a blood test. Authorities have not released the driverās name, confirming only his age and home region. After completing initial procedures, he was released pending further investigation. The motorist now faces multiple charges, including suspected drug-impaired driving, narcotics law violations, and several traffic offences. Police will continue their inquiry based on the evidence collected during the stop.
