Mittelhessen: MITTELHESSEN: Hessian Police Demonstrates Teamwork and Dedication in "Advent Cycling"

A charity cycling event organised by Central Hesse police has raised over €1,000 for a local hospice service. The 'Advent Cycling' fundraiser took place on December 10, 2025, with officers pedalling for a good cause. The donation was later handed over to support the Marburg Children’s and Youth Hospice Service.

Around 45 police officers took part in the cycling challenge, covering distances to gather funds. Those unable to ride still contributed through direct donations, bringing the total to €1,160.

On December 17, 2025, Franziska Mittwoch, head of the Regional Criminal Investigation Division, and Anne Hegewald, head of health management, formally presented the money. They passed the donation to Pamela Stephens, a police officer serving as the liaison for the hospice service in Marburg.

Stephens thanked everyone involved and emphasised how vital the funds are for families relying on the hospice’s support.

The donation will go directly to the Marburg Children’s and Youth Hospice Service. Organisers hope the event will encourage further community engagement with local charitable causes. The police force has already signalled plans to repeat similar initiatives in the future.
