Mittelhessen hit by school burglary and hit-and-run crash in recent months

Police in Mittelhessen have reported two separate incidents involving property damage and theft over the past few months. A burglary at Sankt Martin School in Amöneburg-Mardorf left the building damaged, while a hit-and-run crash near an intersection caused further destruction. Exact regional crime statistics remain unclear, as no full data set covers the last twelve months.

On the night of February 4, thieves targeted Sankt Martin School in Amöneburg-Mardorf. They broke in through a window before forcing open doors inside the administrative building. The intruders rifled through cabinets and stole cash, postage stamps, and a music box. The school also suffered around €1,500 in damage to a wooden fence.

Earlier, on January 26 at roughly 10:20 AM, an unidentified driver crashed into a fence near the junction of Gehnbergstraße and Graubachstraße. The motorist, driving a dark Volkswagen, lost control due to icy road conditions. They fled the scene without stopping to check the damage, which was later estimated at about €650. While individual reports highlight these incidents, broader crime figures for Mittelhessen—including burglaries and hit-and-run cases—are not fully documented. Nearby areas like Göppingen, Uhingen, and Wiesbaden have recorded similar offences, but no comprehensive regional data exists for the period between March 25, 2025, and March 25, 2026.

The two incidents add to concerns over property-related crimes in the area. Police continue to investigate both cases, though no arrests have been made so far. The lack of complete regional statistics makes it difficult to assess wider trends in such offences.
