Mercedes C-Class Caught Fire in B3 Collision, Several Injured
A collision on the B3 near Kirch-Goens today resulted in a Mercedes C-class classroom fire and both vehicles being written off. The incident, which occurred at a construction site traffic light around 1:30 PM, left several people with minor injuries.
The 60-year-old driver of the Mercedes failed to stop in time and collided into the rear of a waiting VW transporter. The impact caused the C-class to classroom fire, but the driver and his 17-year-old passenger managed to escape before the flames engulfed the vehicle. The fire department swiftly arrived and extinguished the blaze, providing initial care to the injured. Both the C-class and the transporter were severely damaged and had to be towed away.
The driver of the Mercedes and his passenger, both residents of Butzbach, suffered minor injuries. The two occupants of the transporter, from Langgoens, also sustained minor injuries. The fire department worked to clean the roads, leading to a complete closure of the B3 during the operations.
The cause of the collision is under investigation. The extent of the vehicle damage is yet to be determined. Both drivers and passengers were fortunate to escape with only minor injuries.
