Memmingen’s €28M Römerstraße project redefines sustainable housing with 91 new apartments

A groundbreaking ceremony has marked the start of a new €28 million housing project in Memmingen’s Römerstraße. Developer Built4Future is leading the scheme, which will deliver 91 apartments by summer 2027. The municipality has handed full responsibility to the private company, a rare move for the area.

The development will include five three- to four-storey buildings, constructed using energy-efficient solid methods. Among the 91 apartments, some will serve as rental units for Memmingen Hospital staff, while others will form a trainee dormitory. Noise from the nearby railway embankment will be reduced through soundproofed façades.

The Römerstraße project combines private investment with sustainable housing solutions. Once finished, it will provide modern living spaces, renewable energy, and reduced noise pollution. The municipality’s decision to avoid subsidies could influence future developments in the area.
