Melsungen police crack down on impaired drivers in major checkpoint operation

Police in Melsungen carried out a major traffic operation on December 8, 2025. The checkpoint on Nürnberger Straße focused on catching drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Officers stopped dozens of cars and checked over a hundred people during the crackdown.

The operation saw 76 cars pulled over and 109 individuals inspected. Officers conducted 16 breath alcohol tests and 26 preliminary drug screenings. Four drivers were suspected of using cannabis and taken for blood tests.

The checkpoint resulted in multiple detections, including drug use and licence violations. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ongoing traffic enforcement. Further operations of this kind are expected in the region.
