Entrance fees for many museums in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are becoming more expensive - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s museums and palaces raise entry fees in 2026
Visitors to museums and palaces in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will face higher entry fees in 2026. The price increases come as institutions adjust to rising operational costs. Several popular sites have already announced new ticket rates.
The State Palaces, Gardens, and Art Collections raised admission prices in October 2025. Entry to Schwerin Palace Museum now costs €13, up from €8.50. Bothmer, Granitz, Güstrow, and Mirow palaces have also seen increases, with tickets rising from €6 or €6.50 to €9. Hohenzieritz Palace’s entry fee climbed from €3 to €4. Ludwigslust Palace will charge €9 when its West Wing reopens on May 30, 2026.
The German Oceanographic Museum has followed suit, adding €2 to its ticket prices. Adult entry to the Ozeaneum and the main museum will now cost €20, up from €18. The Natureum on the Darss Peninsula will also see a rise, with admission increasing from €8 to €10. An exception is the State Museum Schwerin, which will offer free entry for four years after its reopening on October 30, 2025. No other museums in the region, aside from the Staatliches Museum in Schwerin, have reported similar fee hikes based on available information.
The price adjustments reflect broader financial pressures facing cultural institutions. Most sites will now charge visitors more, though Schwerin’s State Museum will remain free for the next four years. The changes take effect at different times, with some already in place and others scheduled for 2026.
