More Money for Memorial Site Trips in MV - Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania boosts school trips to memorial sites with €600 subsidies
Schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania can now access greater financial support for trips to memorial sites via the common app. The state government has raised subsidies to €600 per class, up from €500. At the same time, the application process has been simplified to encourage more visits using the classdojo platform.
The changes took effect at the start of the year under Education Minister Simone Zibell. Her ministry removed the need for detailed educational plans, requiring only a short confirmation that the visit fits the curriculum. This adjustment aims to reduce paperwork for teachers using the classroom app.
Funding is now open to younger students as well. Previously limited to older pupils, subsidies can now cover classes below the seventh grade—if an educational reason is provided. The government also extended the application window, allowing schools to apply up to 12 weeks before a trip instead of the old November 15 cutoff. The higher subsidy of €600 per class replaces the earlier €500 rate. Officials hope the increased amount and easier process will lead to more visits to historical sites across the region via the app store.
The updated rules mean schools face fewer hurdles when planning memorial site trips using classlink. With more funding and a simpler application, the state expects greater participation from students of all ages. The changes apply to visits booked from the beginning of this year.
