McDonald’s Germany slashes menu prices by 15% in 2026

McDonald’s Germany will cut prices on five popular menus from 1 January 2026. The move follows the government’s VAT reduction on food in gastronomy, dropping from 19% to 7%. The company aims to ease financial pressure on families and budget-conscious customers with discounts of up to 15%.

The price reductions will apply to the Happy Meal, three McSmart Menus, and the Big Mac Menu. Customers can benefit from the lower costs across all sales channels, including dine-in, takeaway, and McDrive. McDonald’s Germany has confirmed the changes align with the new VAT rate.

The company also announced a major expansion plan. Billions of euros will be invested in opening and renovating restaurants over the coming years. This growth is expected to generate around 25,000 new jobs.

McDonald’s acknowledged the ongoing difficulties in the hospitality sector due to the pandemic. Despite cost pressures, the business chose to pass on savings to customers through these price cuts.

The reduced prices will take effect at the start of 2026, offering immediate savings for diners. Alongside the VAT adjustment, the company’s investment in new locations will increase job opportunities. The changes reflect both economic relief and long-term growth for the brand.
