MCD Unveils Rs 523 Crore Plan to Combat Delhi's Dust Pollution
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has unveiled a Rs 523 crore plan to tackle dust pollution in the city. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has announced this comprehensive strategy, which awaits the Delhi government's approval.
The plan includes upgrading waste sites with facilities like sprinklers and CCTV cameras. Teams will be deployed to oversee water sprinkling and monitor illegal dumping, key factors contributing to dust pollution. Additionally, MCD plans to procure 60 road sweepers to maintain cleanliness on major Delhi stretches.
These measures aim to significantly reduce dust pollution, a major concern in Delhi, particularly during winter months when smog levels rise. The DPCC, the authority behind this plan, hopes to implement these changes swiftly upon receiving government approval.
The Rs 523 crore plan, once approved, will see MCD upgrading waste sites and deploying teams to combat dust pollution. The procurement of 60 road sweepers is also part of this strategy. These initiatives, if successful, could notably improve Delhi's air quality.
