Mayor and Head of Public Order Thank City Police for Pre-Holiday Deployment

Offenbach’s mayor and public order commissioner have praised the city’s police for their dedication during the busy Christmas season. Dr. Felix Schwenke and Paul-Gerhard Weiß visited officers to recognise their hard work, especially as many will spend the holidays on duty instead of with their families. The city remains one of Germany’s safest, but officials stress that even minor incidents are taken seriously.

Mayor Schwenke made it clear that attacks on emergency and rescue workers will not be tolerated. His comments came during a visit to Offenbach’s city police, where he and Public Order Commissioner Weiß thanked officers for their service. The Christmas period brings extra demands, with more patrols, traffic checks, and security at public events.

The city’s police and municipal order office have worked together for over two years on a joint foot patrol system. This model has proven effective and is now being adopted by other cities in Hesse. The patrols aim to prevent small problems from growing and ensure residents feel safe at all times. To support these efforts, the city police’s traffic division and fines office will soon receive new equipment. This includes modern protective gear, updated vehicles, and other resources worth around €250,000. Despite Offenbach’s strong safety record—ranked fourth in Germany and first in Hesse—officials remain committed to maintaining high standards.

The city’s police will remain active throughout the Christmas holidays, with officers working shifts on Christmas Eve and beyond. Their efforts, combined with new resources and ongoing patrols, aim to keep Offenbach secure. The collaboration between state and city police continues to set an example for other regions.
