Massive garage fire in Offenbach destroys vehicles and raises airport concerns

A significant fire engulfed a garage complex in Offenbach's Buchrain neighborhood on Sunday afternoon, causing substantial damage and raising concerns due to its proximity to Frankfurt Airport. Upon arrival, firefighters found three garages, a Ford, and a motorcycle already fully ablaze. Despite the intensity, they managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residential buildings. The incident prompted emergency responders to notify German air traffic control due to the fire's proximity to Frankfurt Airport's flight path and the visible smoke plume. The fire left a trail of destruction, severely damaging three garages, three motorcycles, a quad bike, and a Ford. Preliminary estimates suggest the property damage to be around €120,000. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the operation was brought under control by multiple fire crews within half an hour. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Initial indications point to repair work being carried out on one of the motorcycles shortly before the flames erupted. A tenant of the garage complex is being looked into as part of the investigation. The fire in Offenbach's garage complex has been contained, with no injuries reported. However, the incident resulted in significant property damage, with preliminary estimates at €120,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
