Massive fire engulfs Frankfurt allotment gardens on New Year’s Eve

A fire broke out in an allotment garden complex on Kleyerstraße in Frankfurt-Gallus on December 30, 2025. Several garden sheds were engulfed in flames, with reports of towering fire reaching up to four metres high. Emergency services responded swiftly after the blaze was reported at around 6:35 p.m.

The fire began in a shared area between four adjacent plots before spreading to neighbouring gardens. Firefighters worked for roughly 1.5 hours to bring the situation under control. Authorities have since cordoned off the affected area while investigations continue.

The Frankfurt Police Presidium has launched an inquiry into the cause of the fire, as confirmed in their official press release (POL-F: 251231 - 1349). Early estimates suggest the damage could run into the low six-figure range. No injuries have been reported, but the extent of the destruction remains under assessment.

The police investigation is ongoing, with no confirmed cause yet established. The fire has left significant damage in its wake, prompting further scrutiny from local authorities. Residents and garden owners await updates as the inquiry progresses.
