Masked thieves steal ATM safe in Frankfurt's early-morning heist

An ATM in Frankfurt's Lurgiallee district was targeted by thieves in the early hours of March 19, 2025. The perpetrators made off with the machine's safe after breaking it free using heavy tools. Police have launched an investigation and are asking the public for help.

The incident took place before dawn, when two masked men in dark clothing forced open the ATM. They used an angle grinder and a hydraulic jack to detach the safe before fleeing the scene. This method mirrors previous thefts in the region, including one in Frankfurt am Main on February 12 and another in Mainz on January 22.

Police have not yet released details on how many similar cases have been reported across Germany in recent months. However, the pattern suggests a coordinated approach by the suspects.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses can contact investigators at 069 / 755 - 52199 or visit their nearest police station. Media outlets seeking further details should reach out to the Frankfurt Police Headquarters Press Office at 069 / 755-82110 or via email at [email protected].

The stolen safe remains missing, and the suspects are still at large. Police continue to gather evidence and follow leads in the case. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to assist the ongoing investigation.
