Masked man’s toy gun sparks police response in Neu-Isenburg

A false alarm unfolded in Neu-Isenburg on Tuesday afternoon after a passerby spotted a masked man carrying what appeared to be a rifle. Police quickly responded to the report near Bahnhofstraße and Kurt-Schumacher-Straße, only to discover the weapon was a harmless toy gun.

At around midday, a concerned witness called emergency services after seeing a man in a partial medical mask holding what looked like a firearm. Officers arrived shortly after and located a 33-year-old man fitting the description. He was carrying a plastic toy gun designed to fire small foam projectiles—with no real ammunition.

The man told police he had found the toy in a bin and was simply holding it. He admitted he had not considered that waving it in public might frighten others. Authorities confirmed the weapon posed no threat and logged the incident as a misunderstanding. After recording the man’s details, officers disposed of the toy gun permanently. His identity was not released, with police only confirming his age and the source of the toy.

The incident ended without charges, as the man had no intent to cause alarm. Police reminded the public that even replica weapons can trigger serious responses. The toy gun was destroyed to prevent further confusion.
