Masked intruder breaks into Offenbach storage units, police hunt second suspect

Police in Offenbach are investigating a break-in at a self-storage facility on Arndtstraße. The incident occurred early on Tuesday, 12 January 2026, with witnesses reporting a masked intruder fleeing the scene. Officers have since detained one man but are still searching for a second suspect believed to be involved.

The break-in was reported at around 4:40 a.m. after a witness saw a masked man carrying a toolbox run from the storage units. Multiple units had been forcibly opened, and two toolboxes were stolen. The suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie and black sweatpants.

A 51-year-old man was detained near the scene shortly afterwards. However, he does not match the description given by the witness and is considered a possible accomplice. Authorities have taken him into custody for identification procedures. Police are now searching for Kevin Müller, a 28-year-old man from the region. He is approximately 1.80 m tall, slim, with dark hair and a tattoo on his right arm. The damage caused by the break-in is estimated to be in the four-digit range. Authorities have asked the public for help in locating Müller, who remains at large.

The investigation is ongoing, with police urging anyone with information to come forward. The detained man remains in custody, while officers continue their search for the primary suspect. The total cost of the stolen items and property damage is still being assessed.
