Masked gunmen steal €850K in bold Frankfurt jewellery heist
A daring armed robbery took place at a jewellery store on Hochstraße in Frankfurt on June 29, 2023. Two masked men threatened staff with a gun and a hammer before escaping with watches and jewellery worth nearly €850,000. Police later recovered the getaway bicycles near Im Trutz Frankfurt and Emil-Claar-Straße. The robbery began just after 10:40 AM when an unidentified man, now known as Suspect 1, rang the store's doorbell. As soon as the victim opened the door, he pulled a black pistol from a white shopping bag and shouted, 'This is a robbery!'
A second man, Suspect 2, then rushed inside with a carpenter's hammer. He smashed the glass display cases and grabbed 40 luxury wristwatches along with other jewellery. The total haul was valued at around €850,000.
Both suspects fled on bicycles, cutting through a nearby park. Suspect 1 rode a blue Cyco mountain bike with white lettering, a white front fork, and white handlebar grips. Suspect 2 used a black Zündapp mountain bike with green lettering and a bright yellow cable lock.
Police described Suspect 1 as a man aged 30–35, around 175–180 cm tall, with a slim build, dark blonde hair, and a full dark beard. He wore a light shirt, light pants with a dark belt, and white sneakers. Suspect 2 was also 175–180 cm tall but had an athletic build. He wore a gray jacket, white work pants with dark patches, dark Puma sneakers, a blue fisherman's hat, gloves, and a face covering.
This robbery is one of roughly 12 similar armed jewellery store heists in Frankfurt between March 2024 and March 2026. Notable cases include the attack on Goldene Krone in Westend on December 15, 2024, and multiple incidents in the city centre during 2025. The stolen items remain unrecovered, and the suspects are still at large. Frankfurt police continue to investigate the case, linking it to a broader pattern of armed robberies targeting jewellers in the city. The abandoned bicycles are being examined for forensic evidence.
