Marburg's Rose Monday parade disrupts traffic and bus routes on 10 February
Marburg's Rose Monday celebrations will bring major traffic changes on 10 February. Biegenstraße will close to vehicles from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM for the main event. Several bus routes and stops will be affected by diversions throughout the day.
This year's parade will take place as a stationary event in front of the Erwin-Piscator-Haus. Organisers have not released details about visitor numbers or crowd management plans.
The closure of Biegenstraße means multiple bus stops will remain out of service. Rudolphsplatz A1 and B2, Erwin-Piscator-Haus, Volkshochschule, and Robert-Koch-Straße (except for certain lines) will not be served during the event. Routes 383 and MR-61 will also skip stops at Erwin-Piscator-Haus, Volkshochschule, and Elisabethkirche.
Northbound buses will take a detour via Erlenring, Wilhelm-Röpke-Straße, and Krummbogen toward the main train station. Southbound services will instead travel via Bahnhofstraße and Robert-Koch-Straße before reaching the Steinweg (Elisabethkirche) stop. Line 6 will turn at Erlenring, proceed along Kappesgasse, and follow the diversion to the main station.
Not all routes face disruption. Lines 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, and 20 will continue operating as usual. Regional and intercity buses will also be rerouted in both directions via Wilhelm-Röpke-Straße and Krummbogen to the main train station.
The temporary closures and diversions aim to accommodate the Rose Monday event. Passengers should check updated schedules and plan alternative routes where needed. Normal service will resume once Biegenstraße reopens at 8:00 PM.
