Marburg police hunt hit-and-run driver and fraudsters targeting elderly couple
Police in Marburg are investigating two separate incidents involving a hit-and-run and a fraud targeting an elderly couple. In one case, an unidentified driver damaged property before fleeing, while in another, impersonators stole valuables by posing as officers. Authorities are now appealing for public help to track down those responsible.
The first incident occurred at the St. Elisabeth Senior Care Home on Lahnstraße. A driver crashed into the facility's gate, causing around €3,000 in damage, before leaving without reporting it. Witnesses are urged to come forward with any details about the vehicle or the person behind the wheel.
Meanwhile, in Breidenbach, fraudsters tricked an elderly couple by pretending to be police officers. The scammers made off with gold and silver coins. The suspect is described as a tall, slim man with a dark complexion, short black hair, and rectangular glasses. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and trousers, driving a dark estate car with MTK plates.
Marburg Police are asking anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area—or who recognises the man or vehicle—to contact them immediately.
Both cases remain under investigation, with police relying on public tips to identify the suspects. The hit-and-run damage is estimated at €3,000, while the stolen coins have yet to be recovered. Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to local authorities.
