Marburg Hit by Vandalism and House Fire: University Window Broken, Nazi Graffiti Found
Marburg and its surrounding areas have witnessed two recent incidents of vandalism and a house fire. A university building window was broken, and nationalist graffiti was found on an underpass. Meanwhile, a home fire in Hassenhausen caused significant damage.
On the evening of October 13, a window of a university building in Marburg was shattered, resulting in approximately 500 euros of damage. The State Protection Department is currently investigating the incident.
In a separate incident, graffiti featuring a swastika and nationalist slogans was discovered on an underpass in Wohra. The damage is estimated to be around 500 euros.
Earlier, a home fire in Hassenhausen occurred due to a technical defect in a washing machine. The fire was extinguished swiftly, and fortunately, no injuries were reported. The damage is estimated to be in the five-digit euro range.
Authorities are investigating the incidents in Marburg and Wohra. The suspect in the university window breaking is described as a male, around 20 years old, about 170 cm tall, with a beard and mustache, and short brown curly hair. He was last seen wearing a red top and a black waistcoat. The cause of the home fire in Hassenhausen has been determined, and repairs are underway.
