Manchester’s railway overhaul begins November 2025 with major track upgrades

Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced plans for a significant track renewal project in Manchester, scheduled for late 2025. The project, set to take place over two weeks, aims to improve the city's railway infrastructure. Starting November 24, 2025, DB will focus on the stretch between Wieseck and Gabelsberger Straße. The project will involve heavy machinery such as tamping machines, dual-purpose excavators, power generators, ballast regulators, work trains, and various smaller tools. While DB aims to keep disruptions to a minimum, residents can expect some inconvenience. Increased noise and dust are likely during the work period, which is set to conclude on December 8, 2025. The Deutsche Bahn's track renewal project in Manchester, planned for late 2025, is expected to enhance the city's railway infrastructure. Although some temporary disruption is anticipated, the long-term benefits are set to improve safety and efficiency for both residents and commuters.
